Description

For :iconvitrum-academy:

Originally when doing this I wanted to make Gaels fairy form to be naked but minus any genitals but felt someone might get offended or it might be unlikely for either side of a rather humanoid species to not have anything and so decided against it. Also, might not look like it but went through quite a few different variations of Gael before deciding on this one. Anyway, Gaels info:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: Gael Deschamps
Age: Appears 20, actually 140
Birthday: 15th March
Gender: Male
Species: Fairies
House: Cobalt
Strengths:
- Gael is gifted at playing the violin and piano. He loves to play it outside where he feels in his element since he likes to 'tickle the tear ducts' of any audience that will listen and if you can't find him your best bet is outside if it’s breezy or inside his room.
- Since he did live between France and England Gael became bi-lingual and can speak both languages fluently except he tends to let his French sometimes seep into conversations when he's speaking English, especially when using terms of friendship or endearment (which is quite often).
- When listening to music his hearing seems to tune into the song more than it would when talking with someone. Listening into it he will be able to point out any small mistakes during the performance and this tends to help him when he’s playing his music.
- Gael knows himself that he has a rather nice smile and when he lands himself in some trouble with the school or his classmates (which, trust me, he will) he'll normally use his 100 watt smile and apologize using a more charming version of his daily voice and this normally helps him escape trouble, well, it HAS.
Weaknesses:
- Gael, being a fairy, has wings that are so delicate that if the part of the wing that is closest to his spine is even stroked he will yell out in pain and try his hardest to get away from the source that is causing his pain.
- Gael cannot cook to save his life, if he ever ended up living on his own after the academy he would order takeout until he found someone who could cook well to live with him (forcefully if need be).
- When it comes to remembering the important things Gael is terrible, he only seem to remember trivial facts and nothing too important about a person or a subject. When it comes to mathematics, don't expect him to even bother trying with this class.
- He is a perfectionist, when he has started something he’s set out to do it has to be continued and completed until he’s reached a level he is happy with and he has rather high standards for himself, which is why he’s great at piano and violin but he can sometimes get into his work so much that he forgets to eat and on more severe cases sleep.
Personality: (+cheerful) (+charistmatic) (+friendly) // (=mildly mischevious) // (-height complex) (-perfectionistic) (-flirty)
Gael just always seems to be in a cheerful mood, just smiling and cracking a few jokes when he can, until he practices cooking and fails in which case he then gets slightly depressed. Along with being cheerful most of the time he’s also a bit cheeky in the sense he tends to flirt with just about everyone but does it all in good fun and not meaning much harm at all by it, but he probably needs to realise some people may take it as though he’s being serious. Gael being a fairy and naturally small he’s pretty envious of people much taller than him, he won’t be so envious of them that he'll ostracize them but he won’t go out of his way to talk with them. Gael sometimes seems to push his luck and seems to enjoy doing so sometimes whether it’s how long he can sleep in and miss some amount of class for or how trouble he can cause before he gets a detention.
History: Gael was born to two fairy parents in a colony of fairies in the hills of Northern France in 1875. He learnt to speak French from his parents and from what he had learnt from the human people when they passed by or when he eavesdropped on their conversations. He was content in living in France, with the colony and the butterflies that seemed to always come back daily, but was curious of the human world and wondered if there were more fairies in the world than just their little group, his parents said that there was but he was too young right now to go searching for them but did agree that when he was older if he still wanted to then he could go. Gael, after a few more years of his parents denying to let their only child out of their sight, started to feel more than a little trapped by the way they acted and wanted to just be let free and be with these other fairies he’d thought so much about. When it came close to the early 1900’s Gaels parents finally let their ‘baby boy’ go and he followed a large group of other Fairies and travelled to England (it really did a number on his stamina) since England at this time believed in the fairies and were more welcoming to them if they’d ever be quick enough to catch sight of them.
Gael, when he first heard the English language he was shocked by the sound of it but intrigued by it as well when it was spoken. He managed to pick the language up after quite a few years with a bit of help and spent a lot of his time outside of a titled ladies room listening to her whilst she played piano for her two children and he found the melody so baffling at first how pressing certain keys could generate such a melody.
‘It can’t be that hard to play, seems simple enough’ were Gaels initial thoughts but when he saw the pieces of paper with bizarre marking in them line after line he realised that there might be more to this thing’ than he originally thought. Though not normally being able to watch from the simple fear of getting caught Gael would stop by and listen occasionally and unconsciously make more than a handful of butterflies swarm the ladies garden. As she taught her children Gael too learnt the basics and the bizarre marking, or notes, started to make sense.
Every evening the group and French and English fairies would all reside for the night inside a woods, though most would like to be a bit noisy and be active during the night Gael couldn’t get the tune that the woman had played out of his head and found himself closing his eyes then humming it but as soon as it had finished exclamations of “Mon Dieu!” and “Bloody hell?!” were what caused his eyes to open and seeing that he was now a lot taller, after the initial shock and confusion Gael realised what had just occurred and how he looked. He was practically beaming since now he could maybe introduce himself and walk around with the rest of the people if it weren’t for the wings still protruding from his back, but by the time the sun had rose it seemed that Gael had slowly shrunk back to his normal size much to his disappointment.
Trying to find perhaps something that could help him stay in his human-like form he visited the family, it was clearly the song that did that to him, had he done it wrong? Did he miss a part? Naturally though one day while Gael was listening one of the children noticed the butterflies and looking out caught sight of Gael who then had to frantically fly off trying desperately to avoid the child’s grabbing hands.
Gael landed on the roof a decent distance away to let himself have a quick breather after flying off so quickly and just trying to get away but instead a loud ‘yowl’ from behind him made Gael become frozen with fear. He slowly turned around but knew that what he was dreading was just waiting for him to turn, a raised claw swooped at him but Gael turned to run and the claw clipped the end of his wing causing a pain to rip through his bottom wing and this made getting away much harder through the pain of his thing wing being damaged. He started to fall but before the cat could pounce down one of his friends caught him and flew off managing to eventually lose the cat who was hot on their trails.
As England became more and more industrial after the world war and their residing place became long gone there were less places for him and his fairy friends to hide or reside so the small group of fairies all decided to travel to somewhere which would be less densely packed. One fairy spoke of a school in America that taught ‘mythicals’ to take on human form so they wouldn’t have to hide anymore, though most didn’t seem too bothered, happy enough remaining how they were, Gael was enthralled. Just wanting to learn the more he could and play music for anybody who would willingly listen sounded like bliss to Gael but knowing the past of fairies playing music for humans is ominous at best so managing to help keep his disguise up and not shrink back to his normal size every time so he could do just that caught more than his fancy. The group who wanted to stowed away on a boat eventually docked in a place called ‘New Orleans’ after having a feeling of going to adventure around a bit Gael went searching for this school that would help him.
[Optional] Hobbies/Trivia:
- Gael is 5ft 5” in human form but only 1/2ft (15cm) in his fairy form.
- Gael seems to be omnisexual (there’s the obligatory sexual trivia)
- Gael wants to learn how to cook but he's just so bad at it
- He pretty bad at disguising himself as a human right now so he just pulls back his antennae into his hair in the mornings after his morning tune. Though the first thing Gael was taught was how not to shrink though he does need to hum the tune every 8 hours if he wants to stay in his human form.
- The song is the tune behind the first 50 seconds of glimmering light soundcloud.com/shakespearebt/g….
- When sitting down Gaels wings seem to act like something akin to butterfly wings and stick straight out but when he’s walking they flatten against his back a bit.
- Gael has a bit of a fear of cats from what happened, his wing has since then healed but he's extremely weary around cats.
- I read somewhere that fairies can bring butterflies to your garden if you care for them but can bring slugs if you don't.
-Somehow stomach his crap food and he'll probably declare you two best friends
